September’s the month when you need to think about the needs of your lawn. A fall application of herbicide needs to be addressed. I have found over the years that applying the herbicide Balan goes a long way in the never-ending fight against lawn weeds. In our area Balan needs to be broadcast by the end of the month. Although this product may seem expensive, the results are well worth the effort. Balan herbicide is a granular product, so it can be applied in the same manner as fertilizer. Remember to follow label directions. As I have always said, twice as much doesn’t necessarily mean twice as good.
While you have you spreader warmed up let’s put our fall application of lawn potassium. My main concern for the fall is feeding the roots of your grass for the winter ahead and the emergence of growth in the spring. With this in mind, I’m a big fan of no Nitrogen but a healthy dose of potassium. Potassium is the nutrient that will give your lawn the health and vigor for the upcoming season. If you have questions, please allow me or a member of my staff to assist you in anyway possible. I look forward to chatting with you next time, until then happy gardening.
