Happy New Year to everyone!  It’s time to push away from the holiday feast and start our new resolutions for the coming year.  Does yours include the lawn and garden?  No. Well let’s add a beautiful landscape to the list.  I promise you will be glad you did.

Now that we are motivated let’s discuss the month of January. I know you are thinking that it’s cold and you have nothing to do in the yard. Well, have you thought about your lawn and gardening equipment you will need shortly?  Now’s a great time to get it repaired or serviced.

While we are outside and shivering, (burrr) why don’t we go ahead and do our annual winter pruning on our deciduous trees and shrubs. Remember those are the ones with no leaves on them. You certainly do not want to prune anything that blooms in spring. We will leave that for a later date.

Last but not certainly least. Now’s a good time to add mulch to your upcoming veggie garden, with highly organic soil you will enjoy a bountiful harvest later.  In February we will discuss herbicides for your lawn for a weed free season.
